Your new page is looking pretty decent now isn't it? For just text that is. I'm sure you've spent your time surfing wishing you had a page chock full of those great graphics that you've seen on other people's sites. Maybe even wistfully longed for some of the tunes you've heard on pages in your travels as well? If you're feeling up to it I geuss you're ready :) Hopefully you've already visited my other page Picture It! and picked graphics from any one (or more) of the great sites I gave you links to. If you'd like to insert an image as a background or insert graphics into your page you'll need to have some to use first. If you didn't visit my first site thenI'll just give you a few samples to work with so we can work our way through this stage.
These are a little dark and you might have to adjust your text color back to the FFFFFF code that gives you white text, but if you want something nice and light or more personal you'll need to find your own background.
Now that you have a background saved on your own hard drive, you'll need to insert the image on your page. For it to be possible to be able to view the background when you open your page after you've changed your HTML, it will be necessary to have a copy of the image file in the same folder as your page file. I'm going to start out by helping you use the last purple background as the background as the background for your new page. In order to make the image appear in the background of the body of you page we need to edit the tag in which we referenced the body color and text color. To insert the image we need to insert the word BACKGROUND=" after the word BODY . Now we just have to enter the name of the image (in this case ra273.jpg) and we're almost done. Insert a " and we're done! The final result should look like this if you've followed the instructions I've given you: whatever color you chose from the color chart " TEXT=" FFFFFF or whatever color you chose from the color chart "> .
Since you changed your text color before you match your background color, it may not go with the background we just inserted, refer back to the color chart and chose a new text color from the list that is more appropriate for your new background. The background I'm using in this example is quite dark, so perhaps a very light text might be best.
While we're fiddling with things in the background of our page maybe you'd like to add some music? While there are several forms of music file (MP3, wav, midi, etc.), it might be best to remember that the larger the size of the file (in K or MB), the longer it takes to load up into your page. For this reason, and the fact that the hardware/software needed to play them is on almost every computer, I choose to insert .midi files into my page. Midi's are small and lend a tiny touch of music to a page without making things too complicated.
Remember way back when I asked you to geuss what
Well at long last you have all the tools you need to complete the background
"stuff" for your page. To insert the background sound into your page
your going to have to find a place within the body of your page and type in
Oh my, this is getting pretty long, think I'll continue to work on the insertion of images on the next page so I don't go into overtime :) When you're ready just go HERE .
