the "Path" and "Modified" columns?
Q: What does
the Data Field Editor do?
Q: How do
I insert text to a certain location when renaming files?
Q: Can I see
all files in a certain drive in one big list?
Q: I created
a report in text format, why the size and bitrate columns don't line up
with the longest filename?
A: You need to set the column
width in the "Options" window before you create the report. The number
in the drop down box is the length of you file name. If you set it
to 75, as long as the longest file name in your list is shorter than 75
characters long, every thing will line up nicely. You need to increase
the column width in order to line up correctly.
Q: Why my
data file doesn't get updated after I rename files in MP3 Utilities?
A: File List Creator does
not update your data file if you use the Rename function in MP3 Utilities.
You need to do an update to update your data file.
Q: My data
file has bitrate, why doesn't it show up in my report?
A: That's because somehow
you unchecked the "Include bitrae when scan mp3s" box. If you want to include
bitrate in your report, that box has to be checked.
Q: When edit
ID3 Tags, I checked the check boxes to preserve certain fields, why do
I get garbage?
A: That's because there
is no tag in your original files. The ID3 tag is stored in a certain location
in the mp3 file. You have to write a "TAG" header at the beginning
of that location so the rest of the fields can be meaningful. If you put
"TAG" but not to write valid value to rest of the fields, they will show
up as garbage. So please don't check the box if a file does not have tag
in it.
Q: Why can't
I delete anything when I select the CD Rom letter?
A: All CDs and removable
disks are listed in the directory tree under the drive letter where you
scanned the disk in. It's not allowed in File List Creator so you won't
delete all your CDs accidentally. You have to delete the disks one by one.
Q: What is
the difference between the "Save" and "OK" button in the "Options" window?
A: The "Save' saves the
settings to a file, it's the default setting every time you open File List
Creator. The "OK' button only sets the settings for the current session.
Q:
Where are the "Path" and "Modified" columns?
A: The width of these column
headers are set to "0" by default for "mp3" files, you just need to put
you mouse cursor on the gap and drag. The "Path" header is in between the
"File Name" and "Size" headers, the "Modified" is in between the "Size"
and the "Bitrate" headers.
Q: What does
the Data Field Editor do?
A: The Data Field Editor
is for you to edit the "Artist", "Title" and "album" fields in your data
file. If you forgot to write the tags before you burned the CD, those fields
will be empty. With Data Field Editor you can fill in those fields by using
the file names.
Q: How do
I insert text to a certain location when renaming files?
A: Select a file, the file
name in "New" column will be displayed in the text box above it. In the
text box, place the mouse cursor at the location where you want to insert
the text, then click.
Q: Can I
see all files in a certain drive in one big list?
A: Yes. Select a drive letter
or a folder, then select "Show All Files in Selected" in "View" menu, all
files (include those in sub folders" will be listed.
