Naughty Teddy

Chocolate was a naughty Teddy. Only yesterday he was pretending to be asleep watching his owner, Jenny, play with her favourite doll. Now Chocolate didn't like dolls. He thought they were all soppy and no fun at all. He watched through a slit in the toy box and thought how best to get the attention of Jenny. He then had what was for him a brain wave. He picked up the rubber ball that Jenny had only bought yesterday and threw it over the side of the toy box and straight at Mandy Doll. Mandy was horrified to see this ball hurtling towards her, so she ducked and the ball went over her head bounced off the wall hit the ceiling and went straight out of the open window into the street.

Later on that day Chocolate was sitting on top of Jenny's bed and Tommy the Soldier was leaning over the edge of the bed looking down and watching Jenny build a castle with her building bricks. A glint came into Chocolate's eye and he crept up behind Tommy.He reached out and grabbed Tommy under the arms and shouted "BOO". This gave Tommy such a start that he jumped right up in the air and off the bed. Down he tumbled until he hit the floor with a BANG.
Tommy landed on his arm, rolled over and hit the wall with an even louder crash. Two things happened, first poor Tommy's arm on which he had landed snapped and went spinning away under the bed. And second the crash gave Jenny such a fright that the wonderful castle she had been building was scattered all over the bedroom floor. Jenny just sat there and stared in disbelief. She could not understand how this had happened. When she realised that her wonderful
castle was in ruins a tear crept down her face and she started to cry. Chocolate, who was up to this point grinning with glee, saw Jenny's face and crept under the blankets and hid. What a naughty Teddy Chocolate was.

The next morning Chocolate was sitting in his chair and Jenny was eating her breakfast. In front of Chocolate was a plate with a slice of toast on it and as usual Jenny had spread this with chocolate spread. Every morning Jenny did this and when she finished her own breakfast she would then say to Chocolate, "MMMM I see you don't want your breakfast again this morning. I suppose I had better eat it." And she would reach down, pick up the piece of toast and eat it. Now Chocolate was getting fed up with this and he wanted to eat this scrummy looking piece of toast thickly spread with chocolate. He reached out slowly so as not to let Jenny see what he was doing, and slid the plate on which was the toast, towards himself. Very slowly and carefully he pulled the plate closer and closer. Now watching him was Mandy and Tommy and they were waiting to get their own back on Chocolate. They whispered and and they grinned at each other. First Tommy and then Mandy crept down the bedspread and on to the floor. Silently the rept up behind the chair which Chocolate was sitting in. Mandy took hold of one leg and Tommy took hold of the other. They looked at each other and smiled, counted to three and HEAVED. The chair with Chocolate toppled right on over and chocolate fell flat on his nose. SPLAT!! And the piece of toast flew up into the air and landed on the back of Chocolate's head and stuck there. Jenny gave a start and looked around, and seeing Chocolate like this face down on the floor with a piece of chocolate spread toast stuck to the back of his head, put her head in her hands. At first both Tommy and Mandy were worried for they thought Jenny was crying again. But their concern was not necessary for instead of crying Jenny was laughing. She laughed so much that she rolled over and almost squashed Mandy and Tommy. From that day on Chocolate was not so naughty and sometimes and only sometimes, Jenny let Chocolate have some of the chocolate spread toast.
