Chocolate's Trip
|
It was a lovely sunny day in Woodland Road and Chocolate was sitting on the wondow sill looking out of the window. He was looking for Jenny his bestest friend. Jenny had just started school and was away from home for hours every day. The toys did not like this, specially Chocolate who missed Jenny terribly. It was such a lovely day that Jenny's mum had left her bedroom window open and Chocolate was sitting enjoying the fresh air blowing through. He was getting impatient for Jenny to come home and so that he could see her all the sooner he leaned a little out of the window. That was his first mistake. Chocolate just leaned out that little too much and before he could say help he toppled out of the window and fell into the garden.

Chocolate had never been outside by himself before and at first he thought it was fun. He could see the trees and the grass and the sky was a beautiful shade of blue. Altogether it was a lovely day. That is is was a lovely day until he heard a snuffling noise behind him. He didn't like the sound of that so he turned his head very slowly, as Teddy Bears do so that people can't see them move, and there behind him was the nasty looking dog from next door. He was standing on his hind legs with his forepaws hanging over the fence between the two gardens. Out of his mouth was a big tongue lolling out and he was making this snuffling come panting sound that Chocolate didn't like at all. Rover, for that was the dogs name, was eyeing Chocolate with wide eyes and a distinct hungry look. Thinking quickly chocolate decided that he had to take a risk. Knowing full well that he should never let people see him move he stood up and ran for the safety of the garden shed. Rover seeing him move was shocked to say the least and at first just stood leaning on the fence watching him. Realising that he was actually seeing a Teddy Bear run he bunched his muscles and leaped the fence and raced after Chocolate. Running as fast as his little legs would carry him Chocolate ran through the grass towards the garden shed. Just in the nick of time he reached the shed, slipped through the half open door and closed it behind him. He had no sooner done this when Rover bounced off the door and tried to open it with his mouth. Fearing for his safety Chocolate backed to the back of the shed and looked around. There was a spade leaning on a bench and he started to climb this and soon he was standing on the bench. Above this was a rope hanging down from a high shelf. Jumping up he grabbed the rope and climbed up until he was safely standing on the shelf. By this time he was a very tired, hungry and frightened Teddy Bear, so he sat down and froze still like all Teddy Bears can do when people are about.

All this time Rover was outside barking like mad and Jenny's Mum came running to see what was happening in the back garden. Seeing Rover she chased him back into his own garden and went to see why he was going daft at the garden shed. She very quietly opened the door and looked in. At first she could not see much in the gloom but then something caught her eye on the top shelf. "Why" she exclaimed "It's Chocolate, how on earth did you get out here." Of course Chocolate never moved or answered. Shaking her head Jenny's Mum picked up Chocolate and carried him in the house and put him once more on to the window sill. Looking down at Chocolate Jenny's Mum said " Well I suppose you won't tell me how you managed to get out into the Garden Shed. So I suppose it will remain just one of those Teddy Bear mysterys." Giving a shrug of her shoulders Jenny's Mum turned and left the room. Chocolate sat there not moveing at all, for he had, had enough excitement for one day and he was determined not to miss Jenny coming home.
