MSX Windows 98 v1.1

 MSX Windows98 is a Microsoft Windows95 look a like graphic shell around DOS2 for use with a harddisk. The program uses the same interface as Windows 95 , allowing programs to be executed from the 'Start' menu or from a shortcut / icon on the desktop. Shortcuts and desktop icons can be created in the program itself. No external editing tool is required. The desktop layout can be customized. Screen colors and background image can be changed from the setup screen.

 MSX Windows98 even features simple minimizing and maximizing of MSX Windows98 native software. For example :  A replayer for Moonblaster for Moonsound files is included and can be minimized while music is playing. The program minimizes into the taskbar and can be maximized again by clicking on the corresponding taskbar button. Meanwhile the music keeps on playing !

For some visual information look at the screenshots below. Click the image for a full screen version.

iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

(all screenshots are from the dutch version)

 Nice eh ? You can use any 'binary saved' screen 7 picture as a background as long as you don't use colors 0,1,2,3 and 15 is white. If you do use these colors the picture might look different ranging  from nice to really ugly. Just experiment with it a little.

System requirements :

To run MSX Windows98 the following hardware is required :

Absolute minimum :

- MSX2 with 128 KB RAM and 128 KB VRAM
- DOS 2 in combination with a harddisk and interface with a minimum of 1 Mb

Recommended  :

- Additional RAM => 256 KB or more is best.
- A FAST harddisk interface with a transfer rate greater than 80 kb/s -> A
  faster interface means  better performance. Fast interfaces are : The Novaxis
