You know the type. Flown by little old ladies, only on Sunday, low and slow and near the ground, never a bit over Mach 1.0. I have used it over and over to get really good deals".
First, I make up a specification sheet, so it is simple for an owner to check off equipment items and has a space for important details like make, model, airframe time, engine time, radios by type and manufacturer, make/model, etc.
Then I secure a list of all the owners of that particular make and model of aircraft, and send the owner a cover letter, asking if they are interested in selling their aircraft to please fill in the specification sheet and send it to me. Usually I enclose a pre paid envelope with business reply mail. (That way I just pay for postage when someone actually sends it back, not for every letter I send out (because I will never get 100% response).
In my letter, I explain that I am interested in purchasing an aircraft of the type this person owns, that I plan on using it for my personal aircraft, and if they are interested in selling, please fill out the spec sheet and return it, preferably with a color picture.
After about 10 days, I will start receiving replys. Usually I hear from a few dealers, but mostly I hear from owners. Many are people who are thinking about selling but have not yet put the airplane on the market. I also hear about a lot of airplanes that haven't been flown for a while because someone has died or lost their medical.
The specification sheet and photograph allows me to pick and choose. Each owner has set their own price, so with all the information in hand, there will usually be several airplanes that are outstanding buys, either because of low time, very well equipped, or priced to move. Of course there will be overpriced airplanes in the bunch as well.
I have found this is a much better method than shopping in
Trade A Plane because I can arrange for aircraft selection, pre-purchase inspections,
checking of AD notes, handling of the purchase details, insurance,
export licenses and pick up and delivery of aircraft, worldwide.
I have flown or delivered airplanes through Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala,
Nicaragua, Nassau, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Turks & Caicos,
and Curacao, Malaya, Nepal, Austria and the United States including Alaska.
As well as myself, I have a number of qualified pilots available,
to ferry aircraft worldwide. I can arrange for the pick up
and delivery of anything from a J-3 Cub to a Boeing 747.
If you need help in buying or selling an airplane,
checkout instruction or want to fly your new airplane home
but need someone to fly with you, I am available to work with
you until you are comfortable with your new aircraft.
(a)I am certain that everyone
who might want to sell is included
(b)I ferret out the
really prime airplanes
(c)I get the best price
(d)I can pick
out the closest suitable airplane
(e)I do the job in a very
short period of time
(f)The cost is low
Need help buying or selling an airplane?
Having it picked up and delivered anywhere in the world?
