So what is

The Gimp does what most commercial paint/photo edit/touchup programs do plus a bit more. The logo on the main page that reads "Ians Linux Page" was created with The Gimp, using one of the many special effects it can do. Images can be resized, scaled, distorted, reversed plus a stack more. The main menu is pictured in the image above, but most commands appear in the image you are working on by right clicking and selecting what you want to do from the menu that appears.
