Sonepat, January 25
An attempt to commit dacoity by half a dozen armed gangsters was thwarted by the alert villagers of Bega in the wee hours on Saturday. One of the villagers sustained bullet injuries during the confrontation. The police have registered a case and taken possession of the gas cylinder, gas cutter and the cartridges which were left behind by the gangsters who escaped under the cover of darkness when the villagers raised the alarm. However, no arrest has been made so far.

According to information, the gangsters wanted to strike in the house of a milk vendor of village Bega under Ganaur Police Station and caught hold of the milk vendor Som Nath when he was returning after milking his buffaloes in the wee hours on Saturday. When the gangsters tried to enter the house of the vendor, his father and wife raised the alarm. The gangsters started running away, but one of the gangsters was caught by Som Nath’s brother Pawan. However, the gangsters fired at Pawan and injured him seriously. Meantime, the sound of fire awakened other villagers and they started chasing the gangsters.
