AMBALA, March 9 — A petrol-station owner was murdered in Ambala Cantonment area past night. The owner of Ambala Filling Station near Super Bazar, Anil Aggarwal, was stabbed to death. His body bearing multiple stab injuries was found on the road to Dukheri near Khoda Kalan this morning. The family of 35-year-old Anil Aggarwal had been looking for him since past night. The body was found by a Khoda Kalan villager, Mr Krishan Rana, this morning. Anil Aggarwal was last seen by his two petrol station employees, Mr Raj Kumar and Mr Jagdev, whom he had left at Subzi Mandi Chowk at about 9.35 pm past night. The area police is trying to piece together the sequence of events after he was last seen by the two employees. He had been repeatedly stabbed by a sharp-edged weapon on his chest, leg, stomach and back. His body was dumped by the killers near the Dukheri Road itself. The spot where the body was found is barely 1.5 km from the main Jagadhari road. The Maruti Zen car of the deceased was found a few hundred metres away from the body. The police said the Zen did not bear any marks of a possible struggle which might have taken place between the killers and the deceased. Also, no blood spots could be found on the well-maintained Maruti Zen. The police is trying to ascertain the number of assailants who might have been involved in the incident. The area police said according to the information gathered from the two employees, Anil Aggarwal, after closing the filling station at the usual time, left for his home in Dayal Bagh in Mahesh Nagar area of Ambala Cantonment. After dropping them off at Subzi Mandi Chowk, he set off straight for home, the employees told the police. Police officials said looking at the cold-blooded manner of the murder, "nothing could be ruled out". The officials said Anil Aggarwal did not carry any firearm and he had never brought any untoward activity to the notice of the police. "Instead, he was considered to be an amicable person who did not have problems with anyone," a police official said. Although his watch, a ring and a few thousand rupees were found missing from the site of the murder, the stereo in his car was found intact. Police said Anil Aggarwal was not carrying a lot of cash as he had already deposited most of the day's earnings in the bank. He was only carrying the cash accrued from the past few hours of the business. The police does not rule out the possibility of an acquaintance being involved in the murder. They said the car did not have tinted glasses and at least two Police Control Room vehicles were always on the route which was routinely taken by Anil Aggarwal. The officials said it would have been easy for Anil to draw attention if there was any problem as one clearly see through the car glasses. The police said that the investigation would depend on ascertaining the exact time of death. If Anil was killed in morning, they would try to find out what he did and where he went before that, a police official said. The murder has shocked local residents. The Petrol Pump Dealers Association, as a mark of respect to Anil, has decided not to open the petrol filling stations today. According to the President of the association, Mr Ravinder Dhillon, "The way Anil was murdered was terrible. We demand that the police should take speedy action to arrest the killers so that such crimes do not take place in future. This is the first such incident in this area and we hope that this never happens again."
