ASI held on graft charge

The Vigilance Bureau has arrested an ASI of Naraingarh police, Shyam Lal , for taking a bribe of Rs 1400 from a resident of a nearby village today.
According to information, a resident of Husaini village (Naraingarh), an ex-police official, Banarsi Dass, submitted a complaint to the Superintendent of Police. (Vigilance), Mr Joginder Nehra, today alleging that ASI of Naraingarh police station Shyam Lal had been demanding of Rs 1400 from him to exclude his name from a case registered against him under the Gambling Act on December 4, 2002.

The SP (Vigilance) teamed up a raiding party under the supervision of Vigilance Inspector Sham Lal. The raiding party nabbed the ASI red-handed when Banarsi Dass was handing over the amount to him. The Vigilance police registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the ASI.
