Another held in gold heist case

The district police has succeeded in nabbing one more person in the sensational gold heist case of Ambala City.
The SP, Ambala, Mr Hardeep Singh Doon, told mediapersons here today that Sandeep alias Sonu was arrested today. The police had also nabbed Ram Kumar of Madhya Pradesh, who was planning to gang up with Sandeep to strike in Ambala. Two country-made pistols and two live cartridges have been seized from their possession. Mr Doon said on December 24, Sonu along with three others, Nitu, Happy and Sunny had snatched a bag from a jeweller who was returning home. The gang members had snatched the bag containing gold ornaments after throwing chilli powder at him.

Sonu told the police that he went to Delhi after the incident and sold 14 tolas of gold. He was paid about Rs 49,000. From there he went to Madhya Pradesh where he stayed with his relatives. The police had conducted the raids in Bhopal. The SP said Sonu had formed a gang in Madhya Pradesh. The gang members included Ram Kumar alias Bunty, Imran, Ravi, Kailash and Ram Chander. The gang members had bought two country-made pistols in MP. They were planning to loot a goldsmith in Sihor, an electric shop in a village and a bank in Bairagarh near Bhopal. Mr Doon said now two of the four gang members were absconding. “We will arrest them soon. Our teams are tracking them down,” he said.
