12,000 kg lahan seized

HISAR, Jan 9 - The police has seized 12,000 kg of lahan from nearby Pirawali village. In a press note issued here today, a police spokesman said that a police team had raided the village yesterday.
The police seized 10,000 kg lahan from Bhagwan Singh's house while 2,000 kg lahan was seized from the three other houses of the village. Bhagwan Singh, however, managed to escape.
Cases have been registered against three persons under the NDPS Act in this regard. The police has arrested Ramphal of nearby Kapro village under the Arms Act and seized a country made pistol and two cartridges from him.
The spokesman said the police had also seized more than 100 bottles of illicit liquor from different persons during a special drive against smuggling. The police had registered cases against Daleep Singh, Satyan, Ranbeer, Raj Kumar, Sushil, Bharat Singh and Ram Singh in this regard.
Meanwhile, the police arrested Bhola Singh of Mansa in Punjab from the local railway station last evening and recovered 4 kg poppy husk from him.
