Inter-state gang of auto thieves busted, 3 held

WITH THE arrest of three persons, the Civil Lines police today claimed to have busted an inter-state gang of auto thieves operating in Haryana and neighbouring states for the past few years.
Giving this information, Paramjit Singh Ahlawat, Superintendent of Police said here today that the arrested persons have been identified as Ravinder alias Rinku of Juan village, Sandeep Kumar of Chulkana village and Sanjiv Kumar alias Sanju of Rohat village.
All of them were living in different areas of this city. The police, he said, also recovered five stolen motor cycles from the possession of the arrested persons.
He disclosed that the culprits, during the course of interrogation, told the police that they had stolen all the motor cycles from Model Town, Sector 15 and the Housing Board Colony.
The culprits, he said, also confessed that they had stolen the stereos from the cars parked in Dev Nagar and Sector 15 of this city. According to the SP, the police have registered cases of auto thefts against the culprits and investigations were in progress.
