Councillor shot dead

ROHTAK, Oct 5 — Mr Dalbir Singh Bangar, a municipal commissioner, was shot in broad daylight by three motor-cycle borne persons on the municipal committees premises here today.
He sustained two bullet injuries and died on the spot. He was leader of the Congress municipal group and also its spokesman.
Mr Bangar, who represented ward no 8, had gone to the municipal committee office and as soon as he alighted from his car, the assailants fired at him from a close range with a country made pistol.
The Senior Superintendent of Police, Mr P.K. Aggarwal, said the police was investigating the incident but it appeared to be a case of personal rivalry. Mr Bangar was facing several criminal cases, including that of murder, he added.
The former Minister of State for Home, Mr Subhash Batra condemned the incident and demanded immediate arrest of the culprits.
