Husband, in-laws booked for dowry death

The Gohana police have registered a dowry death case against the husband and two other members of the in-laws of a young housewife Mrs Jagminder of Jauli village and started investigations for apprehending the culprits named in the FIR, lodged by Mr Budh Ram, brother of the victim. According to a report, the complainant Budh Ram has stated that his sister Jagmindri was married to a youth Mahabir of Jauli village on May 11, 2000 but her husband and other members of the in-laws started harassing her for dowry. He stated that attempts were made to resolve the issue through negotiations but no compromise was arrived.

On Sunday last, he was told by his sister’s in-laws that Mrs Jagminder had suffered serious burn injuries while cooking the meals and she was rushed to the Community Health Centre at Gohana from where she was sent to the PGI at Rohtak for further treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries on the way to the PGI at Rohtak. The complainant also stated that the victim had left an eight-year-old son. Her husband plies a jeep and often drinks. He used to quarrel with her whenever she objected to his drinking.

According to another report, the Ganaur police have registered a case of dowry harassment against five persons, including the husband of a young housewife Mrs Neelam of Gandhi Nagar, Ganaur and started investigations in the case.

According to a report, the police action followed the order issued by Mr Sudhir Jeewan, a Judicial Magistrate of Ganaur in a complaint filed by Mr Jagbir Singh, father of the girl, alleging that she was being harassed by her husband and in-laws, and the police have failed to take any action against them.
