PANCHKULA: While the police claimed to be conducting raids at various places to nab the culprits in the double murder of D.P.Madhok and his wife Rita, the latter's brother Raman Bhalla, former minister in Punjab, claimed that the murder perhaps took place on January 12 and not January 10. As proof, he cited a new cheque book issued by the UCO Bank, Sector 22, Chandigarh on January 12 found lying in the car of the Madhoks. He said beside the cheque book some food packets and newly stitched clothes were also found in the car. "Possibly D.P.Madhok had entered the house carrying some food packets from the car but had not returned for the other items after having been overpowered by the intruders." He added that on that day D.P.Madhok had drawn some cash from the bank. The exact amount, however, could not be known. He said he had been trying to get in touch with the couple for several days on the telephone but did not succeed. "I thought they might have gone to Shimla as they had a house there," he said.
