Chief of fake currency racket held

KARNAL: The Karnal police claims to have arrested Kasim, the kingpin of an interstate gang involved in printing and distributing fake currency notes in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. The police also recovered Rs 1,450, in fake currency notes from Kasim. He was produced in court, on Tuesday, and was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody. Karnal SP PK Aggarwal, told the Times News Network, that investigations had been launched and raids would also be conducted after Kasi's interrogation.

The fake currency racket had come to light after a person had been caught, here, on January 7, while circulating the fake notes in a vegetable market. A day later the police had raided a few places at Nigdhu and arrested four persons. Those arrested had told the police that the fake notes amounting to Rs 80,000 had been bought for Rs 40,000 from Kerana in UP. The accused had distributed the fake notes equally amongst themselves to double their investment. They were later remanded to judicial custody. Later, another person had been arrested from Nigdhu and fake notes amounting to Rs 8,000 had been recovered from him. Police said that 20 fake notes, had been recovered from Kasim.
