Student’s death: father alleges foul play

The Father of a student who died in a road accident has alleged foul play and
has demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter. In a letter to the DGP,
Haryana, Mr Rakesh Bhatti has stated that his son, Arastu, was done to death
by the family of a girl with whom Arastu was having an affair. The letter to
the DGP further states that Arastu was referred to PGI Chandigarh where he succumbed
to his injuries. “I reported the matter to the police. The police booked the
case under Section 304 of the IPC and assured me that they would convert the
case to Section 302 after investigation. But, it was not done despite my
observations,” he said. Mr Bhatti said that they had met the IG, Ambala
Range, and prayed for action against the guilty persons.
