Rising crime graph worries residents
From Our Correspondent
GURGAON, March 10 — The DLF Qutab Enclave Residents' Welfare Association has expressed serious apprehension over the sharply deteriorating security situation at DLF City.
The association claimed that the murderous attack on an elderly couple on the night of March 2 had badly shaken the confidence of the community living in this posh colony. On that night, Mrs Satya Gurnami, a resident of Phase I, died of multiple stab wounds at the hands of unknown assailant. Her husband Atma Ram Gurnami is still battling for his life in a private hospital at Delhi.
General Secretary of the association T.K. Satheesan said the attack came within 11 months of a double murder of an elderly couple in the G block in the colony. He lamented that most of the crimes committed here have remained unsolved.
President of the association Indra Vikram Singh expressed surprise that these crimes were occurring in spite of the presence of the DLF security personnel and three police posts and a police station for the colony.
Mr Satheesan suggested the security scenario could improve only if there was regular interaction between the police, DLF officials, security agencies and the office-bearers of the association.
