ANOTHER INCIDENT of highway robbery was reported yesterday in the nearby Jhajjar district within 48 hours of a similar incident in which a 'bidi'trader was robbed when he was returning to the district headquarters in his jeep after collecting payments. According to reports, the latest incident occurred on the Badli-Nazafgarh Road yesterday when Jagbir Singh, who was returning in a four-wheeler after making delivery of bidi packets and collecting payments, was robbed of about Rs 65,000 by three unidentified robbers at a pistol point. The robbers travelling in a van overtook the four-wheeler and forced it to halt by blocking the road. Three youths armed with pistols came out of the van and snatched the bag, containing about Rs.65, 000 from Jagbir Singh. The robbers also took away the keys of the four-wheeler while fleeing from the spot. The Bahadurgarh Sadar police registered a case of robbery under relevant sections of the Indian Panel Code (IPC) against the unidentified robbers. No official police version was available as Jhajjar SSP Mohammed Akil was stated to be out of station when a phone call was made to his office from here today.
