Rape case
Tribune News Service

Chandigarh, January 24
In just over seven years after Yamunanagar student Renuka Sharma was allegedly raped and murdered, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Friday fixed February 26 as the next date of hearing to enable counsel for the Central Bureau of Investigation to seek instructions from the authorities regarding the probe.

Renuka Sharma, it may be recalled, had left for school on August 26, 1995. Her body, with “one or two bruises”, was subsequently found in a gunny bag. Alleging inaction by the authorities, it was claimed that the case pertaining to the discovery of the body was filed as untraced. The body, it was alleged, was found under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sadar Thanesar in Kurukshetra district.
