The Times of India, February 19, 2000 Minor abducted, `gang-raped' in Kurukshetra The Times of India News Service KURUKSHETRA: Close on the heels of the kidnapping of a school boy, a 13-year-old girl was abducted and allegedly gang-raped by four car-borne persons on Wednesday night. According to the victim, who resides in a colony under the railway flyover here, was forced into a waiting Maruti car from near a bank on Wednesday night to a health club, owned by a local police officer. In her complaint to the police, she identified a resident of Isakpur village, whose father owned a transport agency here, as having kidnapped her. She alleged that this person, named Jasbir Singh, who used to tease her earlier, alighted from the white Maruti car and dragged her into it when she was returning home after completing some domestic chores. She said there were four boys in the car who took her to a health club, situated in a market, where she was allegedly gang- raped. Around 4 a.m. the next day, they dropped her near a bank from where she reached home. Her parents claimed that the policemen refused to register an FIR against the boys, who happened to be sons of influential people. However, the police reluctantly registered it after a few transporters of the area came to her help. The Tribune, February 20, 2000 Three booked for raping girl From Our Correspondent KURUKSHETRA, Feb 19 — The local police has registered a case against Jasbir Singh and three others under Sections 363, 366 and 376/34, IPC, for allegedly kidnapping and raping a minor girl at Sector 13 here on the intervening night of February 15 and 16. According to an FIR lodged with the police, the girl was kidnapped from near the local Bank colony while she was returning to her 'Jhuggi' situated under the flyover on the Kurukshetra-Pipli road. The girl told the police that she was forcibly kidnapped by Jasbir Singh and three others in a white Maruti car. She alleged that she was taken to a Health Club at Sector 13 where she was raped by two of them. She was later dropped at about 4 a.m. next day at the spot from where she was forcibly kidnapped. The girl also told the police that she knew Jasbir Singh because the transport company where her father worked was situated near her 'jhuggi' The girl's father Afsar Ali, a truck cleaner, alleged that he was rebuked when he went to police station for getting an FIR lodged. The case was registered only when the Superintendent of Police intervened. Meanwhile, the owner of the Health Club has expressed ignorance about the incident, while the club's servant is reportedly missing. The results of medico-legal report have confirmed that the girl was raped. However, no arrest has been made so far. |
