Family booked for dowry death
Faridabad,
January 29
The police have booked five members of family after a young woman died at her
in-laws house under mysterious circumstances. The kin of the victim have
alleged that it was a dowry death. According to a report, the victim,
identified as Rajrani, who was married to Jai Prakash of Bhoodat Colony of
Ballabgarh town, was found hanging from the ceiling at her in-laws house
yesterday. While the in-laws of the victim claimed that the girl had been
under depression due to unknown reasons and had committed suicide, the family
members of the victim have refused to believe the theory. They have alleged
that the young girl, who was married last year, had been harassed for dowry,
and it was the in-laws who had murdered her in this manner. The body has been
sent to the local civil hospital for the postmortem examination, and the
police have registered a case under the Dowry Prevention Act against five
persons, including her husband, mother-in-law and the brother-in-law of the
victim. No arrest has been made so far. TNS
