Tubewell mechanic murdered

Karnal, January 9
A Mujafarnagar-based tubewell engine mechanic was allegedly murdered by sharp-edged weapons late last evening by some unidentified assailants while one of his associates was seriously injured. The injured was rushed to the local Civil Hospital where his condition was said to be critical. The district police said the incident took place at Khawajapur village near Gharaunda. Iqbal, was called from Mujafarnagar by Sajjid to repair his tubewell yesterday. They were both known to each other. When they were returning from the fields after repairing the engine, they were attacked with sharp-edged weapons and Iqbal died on the spot. Police has registered a case under Sections 302 and 307 of the IPC.
