60-yr-old murdered by domestic helper
Gurgaon, February 14 (Abhay Jain)
IN A SENSATIONAL incident, a servant brutally murdered an old lady while she was sleeping in her bedroom in Palam Vihar in the morning today. According to the relatives of the deceased, S. K. Malhotra, 66, and her wife Lalit Malhotra, 60, were sleeping in their bedroom, at Palam Vihar, Gurgaon. S. K. Malhtora got up early in the morning as usual and went to the adjacent room for his exercise. Their servant Sambhu also went to the room to help him in the exercise. Ms Lalit Malhotra was left alone in the bedroom where she was asleep. The relatives alleged that their second servant Raju, aged around 20 went to the bedroom, locked the room from inside and brutally murdered Mrs Lalit Malhtora, while she was sleeping using the kitchen knife. Raju cut her throat and stabbed her many times on he neck. Raju then cut the wires of both the telephone lines so that no telephone calls could be made or received. After murdering her, Raju reportedly, took the ear-rings and bangles from her. He also took the keys of the almirah and took out the cash and jewellery from the safe. Before leaving the room from the other gate, he put a pillow and a blanket over the face of Mrs Lalit Malhotra. Raju took his belongings, clothes and other items with him while running away from the scene. The pillow, bedsheet and the blanket have been soaked in the blood. At about 9 a.m. when S.K. Malhotra did not hear the voice of his wife, he told Sambhu to go into the bedroom and inquired about her health. The servant found the bedroom locked from outside. S. K. Malhotra called his neighbour Capt. P. Goswami and they jointly unlocked the bedroom door. Talking to the police later, A. K. Malhotra, the younger brother of S. K. Malhtora, said that Raju's sweater had been found near the body of the deceased. It had also been soaked with the blood. Raju, who claimed to come from Nainital, Uttar Pradesh, had earlier worked for the elderly couple last year for one month. He had been staying with the couple for just 20 days. Capt. P. Goswami informed The Hindustan Times that the couple had a plan to get photographs of both the servants today. The servants had been informed about the proposed photographs. The couple's only son, Rajesh, has settled in England and their two daughters, Roma and Neena are both married, and also living abroad.
