Four of family murdered

SONEPAT, Feb 6 — Four members of a family, including a woman and her two daughters, were reported to have been murdered with sharp-edged weapons at Jagsi village in Gohana subdivision in the district, according to a report available here today. The police recovered the bodies of the victims from their locked house yesterday. The victims have been identified as Chand Ram (38), his wife, Prem Kaur (32), and two girls Sita (9) and Mamta (5). The victim Chand Ram who originally belonged to Sunarian village in Rohtak district had owned a tailoring shop and had been living in the village for the past 15 years in a rented house. Mrs Raj Kala, a sister of Chand Ram, came to the village to hand over an invitation card relating to the marriage of her daughter and found the house locked. She returned and stayed in the house of a neighbour for the night in the village. On the next day, she came back and found the house locked. She became suspicious and informed the owner of the house and the neighbour who arrived and entered the house after breaking the locks. They witnessed the bodies lying in a pool of blood and covered with quilts. Mrs Kala and other immediately informed the Baroda police station about the murder and lodged an FIR. Mrs Kala named Subhash, brother of the victim Chand Ram, who, she alleged, had murdered his brother. The SSP, Mr K.P. Singh, who visited the village had assured that the police would arrest the culprit soon.
