OVER HALF-A-DOZEN miscreants, claiming to be the "men" of an MLA belonging to the ruling Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), picked up a fight in the thickly populated Saini Pura locality of the city on Friday night. According to reports, the miscreants, who looked like 'pahalwan' (wrestler), were having liquor with some 'patwaris' in the latter's office located in Saini Pura. Subsequently, they came out on the streets and started shouting and abusing. On hearing the commotion, some residents of the locality came out of their houses and objected to the miscreants' unruly behaviour. A scuffle followed between the miscreants and the local residents. According to the residents, the miscreant tried to break open the doors of some houses and used obscene language even with women. In all this din, someone informed Rohtak Range Inspector General of Police (Resham Singh, who immediately rushed a police van to the spot. On seeing the police, the miscreants fled from the scene, leaving behind their scooter and motorcycle. While fleeing they allegedly threatened the local residents with dire consequences, They said that they were from Mokhra village and were "MLA ke aadmi." The local people, however, praised IGP Resham Singh for taking prompt action. The police have rounded up some miscreants in the area and further investigations are on.
