Serial killer in Bahadurgarh

Serial killer's 12th victim: Bahadurgarh police still in the dark
ROHTAK, Sept. 18 (From Bijendra Ahlawat)
The police is still groping in the dark as no clue has been found so far on the alleged serial killer, who claimed his latest victim, a nine-year-old girl, in the industrial area of the Bahadurgarh town, about 40 kms from here, about 10 days ago. The serial killer, who has allegedly abducted, raped and killed about 11 girls, aged between 5 and 11 years, in the past three years in this industrial township is learnt to have become the biggest challenge to the Haryana Police in its crime history so far. While the incidence of this heinous crime has sent shock waves in Bahadurgarh, the failure of the police to nab the culprit has adversely affected the credibility of the police in the state. Over one lakh-odd people in Bahadurgarh are feeling insecure and many parents are thinking either of shifting out or have sent their daughters to live with their relatives. Many still believe that the police may not be able to track down the culprit, who would strike again at his will. The alleged serial killer, who according to the police is a sex maniac, has struck about a dozen times in this town. While in 11 cases, his area of operation has been the slum area across the railway line, the latest incident has taken place in the mini industrial area. While the first such incident took place about three years ago when the killer made Puja, a six-year-old girl his first victim. Her body was found near an old pond across the railway line. After that Karuna, Swati, Sheetal, Shanti, Toni, Salma, Mannu, Jyoti, Komal and Arti have been the killer's victims. The 11th victim also named Arti was the only lucky one to have been found alive from a secluded place after her abduction from Agarwal Colony last year. The post-mortem report of the latest victim has belied the earlier theory of the police that her abduction was not related to serial killer case. While the district administration has already announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for clues to the killer, there has been no breakthrough yet. A municipal commissioner has also offered a reward of Rs one lakh in this regard. The police has also reportedly sought the help of the police in the neighbouring states like Delhi UP and Rajasthan to track the killer.
