Trader robbed of Rs 4.17 lakh

SONEPAT, Nov 11 — Mr Pawan Kumar, a trader of Ismalia in Kurukshetra, was reportedly looted of Rs 4.17 lakh by some armed highway robbers on the GT Road near Qumashpur village, 12 km from here, last evening.
The Rai police has registered a case and has launched a massive hunt for the culprits. A Maruti car used by the robbers is reported to have been found abandoned near the CR State College of Engineering, Murthal.
Mr Kumar, along with his driver and two others, was coming from Delhi when his car was hit by another car as it reached Qumashpur. The culprits forced the car to halt and took away the money at gunpoint.
The SP said the culprits had been identified as Devinder and Romesh, both residents of Pipli Khera village in this district, and that they would be arrested soon.
Meanwhile, the Ganaur police has claimed to have recovered an empty Canter from Indira Puri but electronic goods worth Rs 8 lakh loaded on it is missing and the culprits still at large.
According to the police, the Canter, loaded with 42 TV sets and four fridges, was on its way from Kundli village to Pipli when it was looted by highway robbers on the GT Road near Bari village in this district on November 1.
Azad Singh, driver of the Canter, in an FIR, said seven persons in a Tata Sumo stopped the Canter and escaped with it after tying him up.
