Man throttles wife to death

A woman was throttled to death in Rohtak district on Tuesday night allegedly by her husband who suspected her character. The woman has been identified as Bundani, of Bhalouth village. According to sources, Chander pal, working as a hawker here, doubted his wife Bundani's fidelity. He allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged tool and subsequently strangulated her to death at their local residence in Tilak Nagar. The police, after being informed about the murder on Wednesday morning rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem. A case of murder was registered against Chanderpal, who was arrested by the local Civil Lines police.

In a seperate incident, Shanti, aged around 45, who was also from Bhalouth, had gone to an adjoininjg village for fodder on Tuesday but she did not return. According to unsubstiantiated reports, Shanti was allegedly raped and killed by two men who then burned her body. The police have seized the remains of the body but it is yet to be confirmed whether the remains are that of Shanti.
