Youth murdered in broad daylight

SONEPAT, Aug 1 — Jai Dev, a 24-year-old youth, was allegedly murdered in a broad daylight two motor cycle-borne armed youths in the thickly populated area of the Sonepat-Gohana road here yesterday. According to preliminary reports, the victim who belonged to Naya Gaon village, was standing on this road when two armed youths came on a motor cycle there. One of them got down from it and started assaulting him by a sharp-edged weapon (khukhari). Jai Devi sustained multiple injuries on his neck and he collapsed on the spot. Mr Raj Singh, ASI, on seeing the incident rushed to the scene and grappled with the assailant, but his associate came to his rescue. He threatened the ASI with dire consequences if he did not let off the assailant. Thereupon, the ASI let him off and both of them managed to escape on the motor cycle. The city police has registered a case of murder against the assailants who have been identified. A massive hunt is on to apprehend them.
