Youth shot in Kaithal

A local youth, Nirmal (27), was shot dead by three unidentified motor cycle- borne youths here this afternoon . The DSP, Mr R.K. Vashisth accompanied by SHO (City) Ram Phal Singh, reached the spot. According to information, the victim was driving a motor cycle and another youth, Piyush Latka, was the pillion rider . As they reached near octroi post on the Dhand road, the killers who were allegedly following them, stopped their motor cycle and pumped bullets into his head. Nirmal died on the spot. The pillion rider on noticing the miscreants pulling out pistol ran for safety. According to police sources, the murder seemed to be the result of gang rivalry. The deceased was facing some criminal cases and was under threat. The SSP, Mr Ranbir Sharma, said that according to preliminary investigation the murder had been committed by members of the Dibagh gang whose member, Kishan Pehalwan, was murdered by members of a rival gang here more than a year ago.
