Epson's KnowWare University!!8 April 1999
Stumbled onto (whilst browsing Dygraphic's links page) the EPSON KnoWare University website, an Epson site billed as "the World Wide Web site dedicated to delivering interactive EPSON® training  courses to EPSON®  authorized resellers and distributor salespeople ". In other words, Epson sales rep read the stuff at this site! Look under the Library section for many reference materials. In no time, you'll be a qualified sales rep (just kidding Epson)<<<>>>

Here are links to some of the great reference documents there (pdf files) in the Library section. I must say that the documents there are very comprehensive:-

  Epson PrintOn Review!6 April 1999
This may not be new but its definitely Interesting....I first posted news on the Epson PrintOn here sometime last year. Steve's Digicam now has a review of this pc-free printer...ie just hook up the digital camera to it and it will print!
<<<>>>

Just another intersting point:- There is an optional direct-to-print kit which is available for the Photo 700 (don't know whether it is available for other printers). Here's a snippet from the Epson site (US):- "With an optional direct-to-print kit, you can combine the EPSON Stylus Photo 700 with the EPSON PhotoPC® 700 digital camera and get direct camera-to-printer printing - no computer  required! It's the perfect camera-to-printer combination. Here's some further info from Larry Cohn:-" I've got a comment on your mention of the Epson 700 "direct print" option. According to the Epson pre-sales guy I talked to, the Epson 700 as well as other models including the 800 and 850 can be connected directly with an Epson 700 or 750 camera via a special serial cable, but therin lies the rub...  it takes about 15 minutes to print an 8x10 photo image on an Epson 850 due to the slow serial connection, and the fact that the camera has to do all the processing in it's limited memory."

  More Reviews!4 April 1999
Here are some sites with many reviews of computer stuff, including photo printers (750 included) and scanners:-
1www.pcpro.co.uk You need to register first (free) but once you do so, you will be given access to lots of reviews of many peripherals. For printers, this site reviewed the 750 (gave it 5 out of 6). Read about this site at the newsgroup (Aunty Dan).
2http://www.image-acquire.comDubbed as "an independent resource for news and reviews of scanners, digital cameras, and the  software that drives them", this site has lots of reviews of digicams and scanners (including the new HP Photosmart scanner). My thanks to Rick Trelles, a frequent contributor of tips and cool sites, for the tip-off to this site.
3Review Finder A good place to start looking for reviews. It is a search engine for reviews. I did not manage to find any review of the 750 with it but quite a few Epson printer reviews (eg Photo EX, 1520 and 800) could be found.

  Windows 9x Cleanup!4 April 1999

This is essential reading for Windoze users:- Tweak3d's guide to cleaning up your Windows. Here's a quote from Tweak3d:- "It has been a few months or longer since you last made a clean reinstall of your OS. The overall performance of the computer is beginning to suffer, a product of unused DLL's cluttering up the system folder, and  overall obesity of the registry files which Windows does a terrible job of managing. A  feeling of dread is clouding over the workspace in which the computer resides. It's time to reinstall the OS. But wait! That painful process of deleting the Windows directory,  reinstalling the operating system, and all of the applications and games CAN be averted. What follows is nearly a miracle of nature, a renewal of life into a drooping computer." Definitely one for the archives...saves you the trouble of clean reinstalling Windoze.

A Review of the Photo 1200!31 March 1999
Check out Edwards Photography's review of the Photo 1200, complete with a color cast correction curve (!) for b&w printing. This review of the successor to the Photo EX makes for great reading and for new owners of the 1200, isn't it great that a solution for the color cast problem when printing B&W images is at hand just as you have bought the Photo 1200!? My thanks again to Edwards Photography.

  A Quick Look at the 900 & 750!30 March 1999
Check out the Quick Look at the 900 and 750 before a full Face-Off is completed. My thanks to Sutjahjo Ngaserin who supplied the printouts from the 750, 900 and EX (yes, he owns all 3 printers).  Added reviews of printouts done on the Stylus 900 and Photo EX on Glossy Film, both done on 1440dpi.

Updated Inkjet Printer Review!!30 March 1999
Just updated David Chien's in-depth review of colour inkjet printers which can be found at the REVIEWS section. David reviews the Stylus 900 and has changed some of the rankings of the printers reviewed. One note howevers: David has not had the chance to review the Photo 750/1200 just yet so his current pick for best photo printer is the 900.

  Viewpoints on Longevity!24 March 1999
Here are some of Royce Bair's views and comments on longevity reproduced here with his kind permission. He comments specifically on 770 HGC Weber Valentine paper as well as Liege paper and Equipoise inks. A short article but insightful nonetheless.

Campfire Dan's Quadtone Printing Method!24 March 1999
Here's "Campfire" Dan Culbertson's procedure for manually separating channels for quadtone inksets on an Epson printer. His method involves the use of a RIP and the MIS Quadtones. Quite an involved procedure and definitely not for newbies. Look out also for Campfire Dan's Workshop in the Features section soon.

Photosmart vs Photo 700 scans!22 March 1999
Just when I thought that the Photosmart vs Epson debate had finally died a natural death, it appears that the debate is pretty much alive and kicking in the newsgroups. Check out Nai-Chi Lee's side-by-side comparison of photographic prints produced from an Epson Photo 700 and a HP PhotoSmart printer. Nai-Chi Lee has the following to add:- "Those photos were printed directly from the original test image bitmap  file, without any attempt to optimize or to compenstate for the output.  I used the "photo-realistic" mode for my Epson when printing out this  picture.  The HP PhotoSmart print came out rather dark (especially for  the portrait), probably because it has the photo enhance mode turned on by default."
