Yes it can be done. Check out Steve Simmons Pilot Hardware page for instructions. He also has memory board pin-outs documented. Both the 128k and 512k boards can be upgraded to 1 meg. This procedure is not for the faint of heart- you'll need to buy and solder on some new chips.
