Sarasota Sal

Sarasota Sal was the queen of the ball
She was a hard woman
She could take on almost any man at all
She was a hard woman
But when the morning came
Her teardrops fell like rain

Sarasota Sal would sleep throughout the day
She was a hard woman
Her tonics and her pills would drive her sins away
She was a hard woman
But when the evening came
She'd party once again

Don't you know that theres lonely people
Their everywhere you go
The world chews them up
And it spits them out
And it takes away their soul
Oh.....
Their everywhere you go

Sarasota Sal, would dance upon the bar
She was a hard woman
She'd sing a song or two for the pennies in the jar
She was a hard woman
But when the nighttime came
She'd close her heart again

Don't you know that theres lonely people
Their everywhere you go
The world chews them up
And it spits them out
And it takes away their soul
Oh.....
Their everywhere you go

Sarasota Sal, she died and went away
She was a hard woman
The preacher at the grave he said that she'd been saved
She was a hard woman
The women all were glad
The men seemed rather sad

Sarasota Sal was the queen of the ball
She was a hard, hard woman.
